The GSMA, organizers of the Mobile World Congress event, have just announced that Samsung was named "Manufacturer of the year" and that the Samsung Galaxy S II was named "Smartphone of the year" at the organization's annual GSMA Awards. We happened to be sitting with some Samsung representatives when the word came in, and we can tell you that they were very pleased indeed.
