Starting today, commuters in Singapore can use Google Pay as their transit pass

Plain, old fashioned tickets? Forget it. Commuters in Singapore can now pay for their public transporation needs with Google Pay. This was made possible by the cooperation between the Land Transport Authority and Samsung. Payment can be made contactless with a MasterCard, and since these cards work with Google Pay, the latter now allows seamless payment option. All you need to do is unlock your phone and hold its display on the fare reader; voila, done.

LTA has announced that, while the payment can only be done with MasterCard for now, Visa cards will also be supported soon.
